School re-opening is on everyone’s mind. Students want their education back. Teachers want their students back. Parents want their life back. And everyone wants to be safe. A tool to help school administrators assign students to cohorts for a safe reopening.
Neighborhood Medical Response
A community-based screening tool to identify the medically fragile during the Covid-19 pandemic in Red Hook, Brooklyn. This was built by a unique team featuring Council Member Carlos Menchaca and his staff, the Red Hook Initiative, CIV:LAB and Cornell Tech.
The Neighborhood Challenge
The Neighborhood Challenge with Mayor's Office of Small Business Services, Mayor's Office of the Chief Technology Officer, the NYCEDC and innovation partner Company, pairs nonprofit community organizations and tech companies to create and implement tools that address specific commercial district issues.
STEM Career Lab
In collaboration with the New York Academy of Sciences and Queens Library, the virtual Summer STEM Career Lab for youth in NYC neighborhoods integrated the evolving landscape in light of COVID-19 through the Ignite Talk Series and the Virtual Internship. The STEM Career Lab provides youth with personalized career guidance and diverse perspectives.
Socioeconomic Impacts of COVID-19 on NYC Communities
An urban data initiative out of the NYU Center for Urban and Science Progress, helping City Government and organizations to identify and address a variety of social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic, beginning with the Brooklyn neighborhood of Brownsville
Cost Estimating New York Construction
Data engineering with the NYC DDC and their innovative cost estimating and cash flow tool. These tools help DDC plan for post COVID project-restart planning.
Brownsville Sentiment Equity Project
Working with city government, local businesses, community organizations, and Brownsville residents to identify challenges posed and exacerbated by COVID-19—and implement data-based and co-designed solutions that support long-term recovery and growth, focusing on financial, health, and social equity.
